What do you get when you take a beautiful model, a gorgeous Benjamin Roberts dress, make up, lights and a Nikon D3…..and throw them all into a swimming pool?  Yep….

There will be loads more from this shoot and a rather nice behind the scenes video soon but I couldn’t wait to post this one.

Huge thanks to Aliya Rose for the loan of the dress (and Madeline Isaac-James for theirs which looked stunning underwater!). Kate Erington and Jess Tornel for swimming underwater with their eyes open, following complicated instructions (turn to the light, back to me, keep your hands down, kick you legs up, move them apart a little….) for hours and looking fabulous while they did it.  Michelle Webb and her team for underwater makeup (yes, really).  Aidan for the video (can’t wait to see that) and Irv for pretty much doing everything including driving to stations, packing everything up for me when I was too tired and stopping me getting electrocuted.

More on Flickr.  Lots more soon.

This works really well Jonathan. Love the colour combinations and the dreamy feeling from the floating drapery and hair.

how many brides have you asked to do this for you now? :)

how did the dress recover from the chlorine and water???

    Thanks Shawn,

Dresses were kept wet at all times. Models showered in them immediately after leaving the pool then we bagged them. 2 runs through the washing machine and line dry and they were both fine.
But don’t try this with silk dresses…..
