St Augustines is a very special venue. Not only do you get sumptuous surroundings for a civil wedding, there’s a rather smart chapel for a blessing too. And we used pretty much all of it for Claire and Austen’s wedding on Saturday!
Here’s Claire with her minions bridesmaids getting ready for her wedding. We’ll draw a veil over what the rush was all about…..

Meanwhile I went looking for Austen. It didn’t take long….there’s a huge bar at St Augustines and sure enough there he was. Looking cool, calm and collected. Ready for the wedding. I could just imagine him ordering a Martini.

But it didn’t take long and before we knew it, Lois and th rest of the bridesmaids had got Claire ready for her Trinny and Suzanna moment in front of the mirrors. Wow.

Which makes it no real surprise that Austen’s reaction when he first saw her in the marriage room was this. Even his brother and best man Christian looks suitably impressed in the background.

We’re going to fast forward through the actual wedding itself. It was of course beautiful. But there are loads of pictures to get through. Ones from the wedding itself will be posted soon, promise.
Here are the new Mr and Mrs Hill leaving the marriage room. Stone arches are just made for stopping and kissing your husband under ![]()

Oh and did I mention the blue theme? Right down to the drinks….

And then we were off. Some of the guests may have wondered what we were up to for the next several minutes. Well, when you have a groom looking this great, and a venue this perfect and a bride so fabulous and they demand pictures….what else could I do?
We went outside to the gazebo….

…and inside to the chapel to name but a couple of places.

And of course, the light in the chapel is amazing. Which lets me play and take portraits……
First Austen…

…and then Claire.

I think it was worth it ![]()
And then of course there was the blessing in the magnificent chapel itself. You can even see the blue lights they lit it with.

And by now Claire and Austen were getting practise perfect at pausing in stone arches. This time with confetti.

I mentioned last week that group pictures are often called formals. But that they often aren’t so formal when you get a bunch of guys who have known each other for ages involved…

There will be loads and loads more pictures when they get back from honeymoon, but I’ll leave you with this last evening shot. Why not leave your thoughts and comments for Claire and Austen below?

(See? I got through the whole thing without mentioning the scandalous bridesmaids’ dresses. But yeah, I have pictures…..)
