I dunno, weddings used to be simple – either church or register office. Now I seem to go to 2 day weddings, 7 bridesmaid wedding extravaganzas and the latest – two weddings in a day. Or more accurately a wedding and a blessing. Either way, with a wonderful couple, gorgeous weather and lots of chilled out friends both from the UK and the southern hemisphere it was a great day!
After the civil ceremony at Sidcup House, we went on to the rather lovely St Nicholas Church in Chislehurst for the blessing.

After the ceremony they emerged into a gorgeous summer’s day (we were due some summer eventually!). Even the church porch was decorated with flowers.

The weather held for group pictures outside the church – though I did think it was a little unsporting of some of the guests to heckle me when I was standing at the very top of a ladder on sloping ground trying to shoot an impromptu group of everybody at the wedding
As I walked down the road from the church to the reception in the bull’s Head with Julia and Ian, a four piece brass band struck up and played them into the reception.

With two weddings, 3 venues (5 if you count the mayhem of several hundred guests at the bride’s house and the calm relaxing atmosphere where the groom prepared and where absolutely no drinking of beer took place) it was just as well that they had a top wedding coordinator on hand. I’ve worked with Toni Davey from Isis Events before and the attention to detail was up to her usual high standards.

And of course, at the end of a long day, there’s always dancing. Dancing to a fantastic big band sound.

There will be plenty more pictures online when Julia and Ian return from honeymoon.
