On the most beautiful Autumn day of the year, I headed over to Northbrook Park in Surrey for Kinari and Zaf’s wedding. It was kind of an odd feeling when I arrived. For various reasons I hadn’t had chance to meet up with Kinari and Zaf before their wedding and we’d done everything by phone and email. But the odd thing was, I knew lots of the people there. There were several people whose wedding I had photographed amongst the guests and all day people kept coming up to me and saying “oh yes, you did my sister’s/daughter’s/brother’s/friend’s wedding.” Including one couple whose wedding I’d photographed almost exactly 6 years ago. What a lovely warm welcome.
Just as well, because the day was beautiful but cold.
Beautiful like this…
Of course, like most weddings, things seemed calm on the surface but got a little more exciting as we got close to the time. With lots of bridesmaids to get ready things were getting busy with the girls.
Whilst over with the guys there was a little extreme ironing going on…
Though Zaf found time to take a moment’s pause for thought…. He actually said to me on the phone “I’ll be easy to spot – I’m wearing the pimp suit.”. Shiny, silver and fabulous. He couldn’t help showing it off.
And then the girls were just about ready for the short trip to the ceremony room.
Whilst the 2 families waited in the ceremony room and the first of the flower girls got ready for their staring moment.
So 2 flower girls. And in the next set of pictures we have 4 groomsmen, a couple of page boys and about 5 bridesmaids. And that’s not half of them. Kinari and Zaf don’t do things by halves…
You can see a small part of the procession here.
And finally here comes the bride….
And then, in front of all their friends and family, Zaf and Kinari were married.
And of course everybody wanted a picture…
Now, remember when I said that all the bridesmaids and groomsmen we had seen so far weren’t even half of them?
Count them….
And I’m still not sure we didn’t lose a flower girl somewhere…
Thirsty work all this getting married…which was handy as it was time for the drinks reception.
And despite the rather chilly air, we did manage to sneak outside for a couple of pictures.
One of the magical things about winter weddings is that all of a sudden it changes from a beautiful autumn day to a lovely wintery evening. Which is how Zaf and Kinari happened to be walking through Northbrook Park when suddenly Kinari spotted a party.
Quite a good party actually.
There was even cake…
And of course there was dancing…
But what you might not have expected was “The story of how Zaf and Kinari met – Bollywood style”. Oh yeah….
And of course with it being near bonfire night/Diwali/any excuse day there’s always time for sparklers.
Kinari and Zaf are off on honeymoon right now but you can show your support for them by leaving comments below – or hitting the “like” button to post to Facebook.
[Note for photographers: all pictures here were taken with Fuji X-series camera - apart from one which was on a Sony compact. Stand by for a behind the scenes post in the next day or so.]
What, you thought I could leave without “just one more photos”? In the dark? Of course not…
