weddings We're carbon neutral one year on

A year ago, we announced that MyWeddingStory would be carbon neutral. Here’s how we got on…

1. We’ve replaced our vehicle with a super efficient diesel version. The debate about whether petrol or diesel produces more pollution is a tricky one but to my mind a diesel with a particle filter delivering nearly 50 miles per gallon has to pollute less than a petrol car which only did around 23 miles to the gallon. It’s cheaper to run too.

2. Cut down dramatically on driving. Although you’re always very welcome to meet up and there’s no substitute for seeing our albums first hand, last year 2 of our weddings were entirely booked by email, MSN, Skype, telephone.

3. Replaced all our new stationery with recycled or 100% FSC approved stock. We even found a printer certified with ISO14001 and FSC Chain of Custody. They are also rather good printers too.

4. Conducted a green audit of the business. 90% is good but we’re working on the rest.

5. Worked with the Carbon Neutral Company to offset the pollution that’s unavoidable. You can see the certificate above.

And in case you’re wondering, yes the new gallery is built using local carpenters from FSC managed timber.

Does any of this make a difference to you? Maybe not – we are still producing the same great photography in a modern story telling style. Our clients still rave about us and we produce work we are proud to call our own. Even better, the prices aren’t changing this year at all. So now there are two reasons to use the snappy tag line…”Because your wedding story needn’t cost the earth…”.
